10 year anniversary
As I’m sure most of you know, Sunday Feb. 17th was the 10 year Anniversary of Horizon Central. It was an amazing evening for people from all different stages of the existence of the church to come walk through the building and see how the Lord has blessed us, to reminisce of old times, eating of course, and spending time worship our Lord and Savior.
As I sat down to pick out the songs that we would be singing that night I spent some time thinking about praying about what are some of the things that the Lord has done with Central. 4 specific themes came to mind (which just so happened to correlate with 4 songs).
1.) The first was that since the beginning of Central there have been more trials than anyone could possibly count! But through these trials we’ve learned that the Lord is good and that no matter what’s happening He’s still in control. For the first song we sang “Blessed be Your Name” I love this song especially because of the 2nd verse of the song it goes,
Blessed be Your name when the sun's shining down on me
When the world's "all as it should be", blessed be Your name
And blessed be Your name on the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering, blessed be Your name
We see that the contrast of times in our lives in that we are to sang "blessed be Your name" when life is good and when the world is "all as it should be" and yet when we see ourselves on that "road that's marked with suffering", which we surely have seen lots of here, and though there's so much pain in our offering, we are to say, "Blessed be Your name!!"
2.) The second song was "Forever God is Faithful". The chorus says
Forever God is faithful, forever God is strong
Forever God is with us Forever and ever
God has ALWAYS been faithful!!! No matter what has happened in the church, and no matter how hard life seems to get sometimes, God has always been with us!
3.) The third song is a new one that we just started a week and a half ago called
"Jesus is the Lord." I love this song! The first verse and chorus say,
Jesus Christ, crucified, You bled died to save lives
Giver of, boundless love, Faithful One, to You run
Every knee will bow, every tongue will shout
Jesus is the Lord, Jesus is the Lord
Every eye will see the coming of King
Jesus is the Lord, Jesus is the Lord
More important than anything in life is Jesus Christ! We have a future and a hope because of the sacrifice and boundless love that He has for us! One day, and hopefully soon, He’ll come back and “every knee will bow, and every tongue will shout that Jesus is the Lord!” I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait!
4.) The fourth and final song for my worship team, and the night was “Jesus Lover of My Soul(it’s all about You). I specifically wanted to end this evening of celebration of the Lord’s faithfulness with bringing it back to the Lord and how it’s totally and completely about Him. In my 6 years of being blessed with leading worship here at Central, the biggest less has to never own what the Lord’s doing. One of the things that my close friend Cassie Vawter says to me all the time is, “it’s not about you Jake!” and she’s right! It’s not about me, it’s not about Paul, Dave, Cassie, anybody! It’s only about Jesus! The chorus of this song is,
It's all about You, Jesus, and all this is for You
For Your glory and Your fame
It's not about me, as if You should do things my way
You alone are God and I surrender to Your ways
What a reminder!
God is always good! He's been good to us for the last 10 years and has never stopped. He has been our comfort and strength through it all! I'm excited to see what He will do with our next 10 years.
God bless

Worship
Hey there!
So, this is the new blog site on worship for Horizon Central of Indianapolis. This is my first post of hopefully many. I’ll post some more thoughts on worship at a later time… I just figured I’d get this thing started.
God bless!
